Taking A Break

No matter how much you love what you do, it's important to take a break once in awhile.

Sometimes on the way home from town or the country store, we take a left and go the little bit out of our way to the lake. Or while watching the sun dropping to the horizon we decide we want a better view of the sunset. Or we just say, "Hey, let's go look at the lake." Most people only spend time at the lake in the summer, on weekends, but we are not bound by great boating weather or any of that. Sometimes we go at night and look at the marina lights reflecting from across the water. In the winter we brave bitter wind, ice and snow to walk along the edge of the lake, watching the coots dive down to root their dinner out of the mud. We stop by to see what birds are migrating through, like bald eagles, pelicans or mallard ducks.

It's a refreshing change of pace that gets our batteries recharged and renews our enthusiasm for the little moments in life, the changing seasons, the weather or a picnic dinner of fried meat pies from the convenience store.

Kathy's photo from our side of the lake. The torrential rain hit before we made it home. We were soaked by the time we got in the house.
