Homestead Update: Coyotes, Wildflowers and Other Stuff

A pair of coyotes has a litter of pups out in the woods north of here. We've been seeing one of the adults in the mornings fairly regularly. They don't normally come out in the daytime, but they have extra mouths to feed. Over three days the neighbors have lost seven of their birds. We don't let the dogs out anymore. The little ones might get eaten and people might be putting out poison baits that could kill the big dogs.

These feathers are all that's left of a guinea and a chicken.

There are several species of walking sticks (stick bugs) out here in the woods. This one chose a good background for a portrait.

While I was hand pollinating pepper plants in the greenhouse I noticed these ants in one of the blossoms.

These wildflowers invaded the greenhouse and gave me the idea of sharing some of our wildflowers in the meadow. The wind made it difficult to get good shots and some flowers are simply too small.

There are more, but some are simply too tiny for me to get a photo.
