Another Quick Greenhouse Update

Our temperature the other night dropped from 21 degrees F. to 14. It barely got above freezing yesterday and the sustained period of below freezing was too much for the meager heat source in the greenhouse to overcome.

The peppers took the worst of it. Only the Aji Starfish looks like it might recover.

The tomatoes are goners as well. I managed to salvage about thirty pounds of peppers and green tomatoes. For some reason, tomatoes that were beginning to ripen froze and were ruined.

The herbs and strawberry plants did just fine. I think I will still have plenty of plants to care for through the winter. I'm not too disappointed about the loss of the tomatoes and peppers--this was intended to be an experiment and a learning experience. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised and I did manage to extend my growing season into December.
